Class Descriptions

Below is a list of the various classes offered at Elite Academy, along with detailed descriptions. If you would like more information regarding class schedules and tuition, please visit the Available Classes & Rates page.

ACT English Clinic

Students:

Grade 8 — 12

Aiming at high ACT English score. Intensive class in major English concepts: grammar, idiom usage, diction, sentence structure, paragraph structure, rhetorical expressions, and revisions. Weekly in-class quiz to test grammatical skills and weekly vocabulary homework to build up vocabulary for ACT.

ACT Test/Explanation

Students:

Grade 9 — 12

This course discusses how to quickly respond to ACT questions in English, Math, Reading, Science, Essay questions and their solutions. With four practice tests, students will be better adjusted to ACT testing environment and prepared on how to better approach all question types.

College Application/Essay Tutorial

Students:

Grade 12

Comprehensive advice & consulting on writing/editing a successful application essay for college application. Aim to finish essays and applications for a minimum of ten colleges during the class. The tutors are experienced in writing for admissions to top colleges including Ivy League Colleges.

Algebra & Geometry Tutorial

Students:

Grade 8 — 10

Improving Algebra and Geometry scores at high school. Small group class to boost the understanding of major concepts in Algebra and Geometry. Lectures on fundamental concepts on Algebra and Geometry with subsequent practice of math problems. Also covers Homework and Test/Quiz preparation. The classes are divided by school GPA. Bring own school’s textbooks and school materials.

High School Placement Test/PSAT Camp

Students:

Grade 7 — 8

To prepare for high school placement test (PSAT) on English, Reading, and Math, this course covers comprehensive junior high school’s curriculum on English and Math. Please bring ISAT scores, and school report cards at registration for class.

1:1 Private Tutoring

Students:

Grade 4 — 12

A customized private class to achieve top scores on the ACT / SAT / SAT II. Intensive class work under experienced tutors and frequent counseling with parents and students will enable students to see results quickly.

College Application Essay

Students:

Grade 12

This course is designed to assist students in creating successful applications to gain admittance to the top colleges in the United States. Through personalized advice and in-depth consultations from experienced writing tutors, students will create a minimum of ten essays that are tailored for a specific college.

SAT II Subject Test

Students:

Grade 9-12

To gain admission to top colleges, three SAT subject tests with scores above in 750 are highly recommended. The SAT Subject Test classes will instruct students on how to achieve these scores. Class sizes are small. Students will be accepted after confirming their GPA and test scores.

ACT Reading/Writing & Math/Science Clinic

Students:

Grade 9-12

This course is aimed towards achieving scores on the ACT Math, Reading, Science, and Writing sections. Through intensive drills and training, students will be taught techniques, and strategies to handle even the most difficult questions. Class sizes are small. Students will be accepted after confirming their GPA and test scores.

Math Science History: Head-start for the Fall

Students:

Grade 8-12

Head-start class during the summer for preparing school class in the fall. Small group of students with similar academic achievements.

Summer Intensive ACT/SAT Camp for 9-12th Grade

Students:

Grade 9-12

The camp will focus on the all sections of the ACT/SAT with particular emphasis on the following skills: writing (critical thinking and rhetorical skills), reading(analytical reading and comprehension), algebra/geometry(advanced concepts and word problems), and English grammar(punctuation and grammar rules).

Summer Intensive PSAT Camp for High School Placement Test(PSAT) & IMSA Admission for 7-8th Grade

Students:

Grade 7-8

According to recent trends of Terra Nova, the 7-8th graders class will focus on English Writing, English Reading, Algebra & Geometry in addition to Math Word Problem Solving.
