Summer Intensive ACT Camp II : 9-12th Grade

Students:

Grade 9 - 12 (as of September 2020)

Schedule:          July 20 – August 7 (M-F 9:00 AM – 2:40PM)

Tuition:            $1000.00 (including 3 ACT Tests and Vocabulary Lists & Quiz)

Contents:          The Camp will focus on the all sections of the ACT with particular emphasis on the following skills: writing (critical thinking and rhetorical skills), reading (analytical reading and comprehension), algebra/geometry (advanced concepts and word problems), and English grammar (punctuation and grammar rules).

English Writing: Critical Thinking, Rhetorical Skills, and Logical Structure of Essays. Workshop style in-class discussion setting and hands-on practice.
English Reading: Analytical Reading and Practice with ACTstyle Reading Questions.
Algebra/Geometry: Algebra/Geometry Concepts and related practice problems for solving equations.
Word Problems: Train students in solving word problems from Algebra and Geometry Concepts according to recent trends of increasing Word Problems in ACT.
Science Reasoning: Intensive class on interpretation of scientific chart, graph, and scientific passages. Only for ACT Camp.

Summer Intensive PSAT Camp for High School Placement Test (Terra Nova) & IMSA Admission: 7-8th Grade

Schedule:          June 15 – July 24 (Monday-Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
                        (No class 7/3, 7/4)

Tuition:              $2000.00 (including 6 SAT Practice Tests & daily Vocabulary homework and Quiz)

Contents:          According to recent trends of Terra Nova, the 7-8th Graders Class will focus on English Writing, English Reading, Algebra & Geometry in addition to Math Word Problem Solving.

English Writing: Emphasis on Critical Thinking, Rhetorical Skills, and Logical Structure of SAT Essays. Workshop style in-class discussion setting and hands-on practice.
English Reading: Emphasis on Analytical Reading and Practice with SAT-style Critical Reading Questions.
Algebra & Geometry: Algebra & Geometry Concepts and related practice problems for Solving Equations for SAT Math.
Word Problems: According to recent trends of increasing Word Problems in SAT, trains students in solving word problem from Algebra/Geometry Concepts.
English Grammar: Intensive Class on major English concepts: grammar, idiom usage, diction, sentence structure, paragraph
structure, rhetorical expressions, and revisions.

ACT Test/Explanation (for ACT in July, September, October 2020)

Students:

Grade 9-12 (as of September 2020)

Schedule:          June 13 – July 30
Placement test: June 13 Saturday 10:00-2:00 (Bring Calculator, 6/13, 6/20, 6/27, 7/11, 7/18, 7/25)
Tests: Every Saturday 10:00-2:00 (No test on 7/4)
Class: Thursdays 6:40-8:30 PM (6/18, 6/25, 7/2, 7/16, 7/23, 7/30 )

Tuition:            $600.00 

Contents:          This course is designed to achieve high scores in the English, Math, Reading, Science, and Writing sections of the ACT. The course focuses on building upon strengths and correcting weaknesses by carefully analyzing student performance on the practice tests. Six practice tests will be administered under realistic test taking conditions to identify individual deficiencies on the test as well as predict future performance on the actual ACT. After an initial placement test, students will be placed into classes along with other students sharing their similar scoring range. New students to the ACT are encouraged to take ACT English Clinic I or II, ACT Reading Clinic, ACT Math/Science Clinic in order to further develop their skills on specific sections.

Placement test 1 on June 13(Sat) 10:00-12:00 , Test 2 on July 18 (Sat) 10:00-12:00.

SAT II Chemistry: Tuesday 6:40-8:30 PM
SAT II Literature: Thursday 3:00-4:50 PM
SAT II Math: Wednesday 6:40-8:30 PM

Tuition:             $500.00/subject

Contents:        To gain admission to top colleges, three SAT subject scores in the 750’s are recommended. These intensive lectures complete with practice tests, practice problems, and a strong focus on valuable test-taking strategies, will help students achieve the scores. Small class size.

ACT English Clinic

Students:

Grade 8-12 (as of September 2020)

Schedule:           June 13-July 25 (No classes on 7/3 7/4) 
                  ACT English Clinic I – Wednesday 3:00 – 4:50pm
                  ACT English Clinic II – Saturday :12:00-1:50pm
                  ACT English Clinic III – Sunday  2:00-3:50pm

Tuition:            $500.00/Subject

Contents:          Aiming at ACT English score of at least 30. Intensive class in major English concepts : grammar, idiom usage, diction, sentence structure, paragraph structure, rhetorical expressions, and revisions. 6 week course. Weekly in-class quiz to test grammatical skills and weekly vocabulary homework to build up vocabulary for ACT. Classes are divided by school GPA and ACT/SAT scores.  

 

ACT Reading/Writing & Math/Science Clinic

Students:

Grade 9-12 (as of September 2020)

Schedule: June 15-July 24
ACT Reading & Writing Clinic Tuesday 3:00 – 4:50 PM
ACT Math & Science Clinic   Thursday 3:00 – 4:50 PM

Tuition: $500.00 / Subject

Contents: Aiming at ACT English, Math, Reading, and Science high scores. Intensive training in the ACT’s four major areas that require comprehensive study with tips on how to deal with problems and subsequent practice. The classes handle higher level of difficulty. Small class sizes. Vocabulary homework to build up vocabulary for ACT. The classes are divided by school GPA and ACT/SAT scores.

College Application Essay

Students:

(No class on 7/4, 8/1)

Tuition:            $1200.00

Contents:          This course is designed to assist students in creating competitive admissions applications to gain admittance into top colleges. Through personalized advice and in-depth consultations from experienced writing tutors, students will create a minimum of ten essays that are tailored for a specific college.
